The Bug Parc - the largest invertebrate zoo in the country just a few miles outside Norwich - is expanding. The three large bug houses still form the centre of the experience, but the owners of the Parc are adding new features for 2024/25, including an expanded children’s play area, a butterfly enclosure and a dipping pond for exploring native aquafauna.

We launched the first iteration of the website when the Parc opened in 2022 - but The Bug Parc experience has grown significantly in the two years since. Martin French, eminent entomologist and founder of The Bug Parc, asked us to revamp the website to promote the new larger experience.

Rainy Day Fun

A key selling point that we identified is that all of the bug exhibits are indoors - meaning they can be enjoyed even when the weather is inclement. We drafted copy designed to tap into the traffic from tourists who, checking the weather forecast, might be frantically Googling “rainy day activities in Norfolk” or similar.

Pictures of the Parc

Because the Parc has been open to the public for a couple of years now - they had lots of images of the public interacting with the exhibits and greeting the bugs themselves at the handling sessions. These new images give a real sense of what to expect from an informative fun-packed day out.

Bespoke Booking Form

A well-designed booking form must follow a logical system that gently guides the user through the process from clicking on the form to purchasing the desired ticket(s). The complexity should not be apparent to the person filling out the form. To the user, it should appear that they are just entering some information in order to make a purchase. In reality of course, there are a myriad paths through the maze with the precise exit point (the price) determined by the choices selected.

When designing a booking form, we have to take into account particular rules that an organisation may have. Operations in contravention of those rules - e.g. booking children a bug handling session without an accompanying adult - cannot be enacted. But it is essential to tell the person why their chosen operation cannot be performed to avoid frustration on their part.

Because we build our booking forms bespoke, we can accommodate the idiosyncrasies of an organisation’s rules in a way that a generic ticket booking form cannot.

We’re very proud of the new look Bug Parc website. The whole site is peppered with gorgeous images of the creatures on display, and we’ve included little facts about minibeasts, making it fun and informative - just like the Parc itself!

Martin French kindly left us this review on Google:

“We used RWD to create our website, split over many months as we were opening sections of our business at different times. They have always been extremely approachable, easy to contact and have provided me with a website matching the design criteria I gave them. No problem has been too much for them and attention to detail has been great. Having RWD at hand to change the site at a moment’s notice where required is also a godsend. Cannot recommend RWD enough for anyone needing to build their website in the future.”
